Green Room, stair way shelter and Auditorium bridge, IFCI Tower, Nehru Place
Located at the business hub at Nehru Place, New Delhi. IFCI Ltd. has an auditorium for various purposes, out of which main being the performances. IFCI with the ideology of adopting to green culture with green building and supporting the cause of usage of bamboo as structural as well as aesthetic element, approached NMBA.
The total covered area/area handled being 570 sq.ft and providing shelter to existing bridge and stair case, while creating the entire green room, including couple of changing rooms, toilet and main make-up area.
The main structure is designed using structural bamboos, while the surface to the structure is provided by bamboo composite SIP, and roofing with bamboo composite roofing panels.
The bridge and he stair case shelter has a cascading approach into its elevation, all the roofing panels are connected, though not physically not connected the top view reveals the idea), other components are designed using the linearity of bamboo for creating mass/surfaces. Intricate bamboo structure interlocks as well as creates balance and movement in the structure in addition to skeletal and surface requirement.
The complete structure is a knockdown structure, which could be brought down.

IFCI sculptural bamboo shelter

Sculptural Bamboo Shelter at IFCI tower, New Delhi
Located at the business hub of New Delhi, at Nehru Place where the entire built-up environment is typical RCC high rise structures.
IFCI, has a well maintained and very beautiful huge lawn/green patch above their parking facility. They wanted to participate in the green movement and to support the usage of bamboo as structural as well as aesthetic approach,  into main stream built environment. This ideology has been perfect for the location and cause.
Through NMBA (National Mission on Bamboo Applications), got the opportunity to design, develop and execute the "sculptural Bamboo shelter".

The structure is a simple open type structure(with no walls), which has a floral base which compliments to the existing green area. Each side of the structure has seven portals which elevate through the height of the structure and joins each other, thus creating fan type of formation at the sprouting level.
The ground coverage is 600 sq.ft and height is 18 ft. We planted lights at the peripheral ground base to enhance the structure. The roofing is done in layers. The  pedestal base anchoring the portals at three locations are half masonry and half left for plants.

an exhibition at IITF 2009, Pragati maidan, for National Mission On Bamboo Applications. The main concept was to have main pavilions for NMBA and 15 other stalls for NMBA's supported enterprises, working mainly in bamboo sector.
It was fun designing and getting the space executed, though very tiring but at the end with Gold medal for design/display under Central Govt category, eased out all fatigue.
now the exhibition structure would be getting relocated at TRIBES shop in new Delhi and would be converted to a bamboo shop.
